You may vote for up to 1 of the candidates. Each parent can submit one response to the ballot, regardless of the number of pupils you have attending the school. As indicated on the ballot form you should vote by selecting the name of the parent you support.
To make the process as accessible as possible to parents we will be using an online ballot. Along with your choice of candidate, you will need to enter your email address and mobile number so that we can confirm the eligibility of each vote against the information we have for you on record. Your choice of candidate will remain private. Further information can be found in the Governors section on our website.

CANDIDATES' PERSONAL STATEMENTS
LISA CLARKSON
I feel I am a suitable candidate to become a parent governor as I have a keen interest in education and to make a difference to children’s lives. I feel my current job in children’s safeguarding gives me professional transferable skills for this role and I am keen to play an active role in ensuring all children receive a good education.
LOUISE LAVIN-BAILEY
My name is Louise and I’d like to be considered for the role of parent governor. I have a child in Reception and am keen to contribute to the already fantastic, nurturing school that is Banks Lane Infants.
I have always worked with children in roles ranging from outreach playworker to teacher and currently work as a teaching assistant at a local school. Having worked in schools for so long, becoming a governor has long been a dream of mine. I have a lot of passion for helping young children develop and how their development can be supported both in and out of the classroom and feel I now have the time to give back.
During my time teaching infants I helped support lots of children with special educational needs or disabilities. This is something the school clearly does well and I’d love to help develop this further. In my current role I’m involved with all aspects of classroom life and particularly enjoy mentoring children needing extra emotional support and those needing additional language support.
As a parent through adoption and a member of the LGBTQ+ community I represent two minority groups and feel I could offer different perspectives on community and inclusion initiatives. I have also had extensive training throughout the adoption process aimed at helping parents understand how to help their child regulate their emotions, grow their self esteem and understand their feelings; all topics valuable to a school with such a child centred approach.
I can offer enthusiasm, commitment and a measured, flexible approach to problem solving. As I work in a school I am not generally available during school hours but am available from school pick up onwards and am committed to making the time in evenings to complete training and attend meetings.
JODIE URMSTON
As a new parent at Banks Lane with a child who has just started in Nursery, I am excited to get to know the school and believe I can bring a fresh perspective to the Governing Body. I have worked within education for the past 6 years, starting as an Office Manager in a primary school and now as a PA to the Headteacher in a high school.
Within my role, I am clerk to the Governing Body and also clerk to the Trust Board, meaning I have a good understanding of what is required of a Governor. I have daily contact with parents and understand the importance of communication between home and school.
I have spent time over the years helping with the administration of financial systems and understand the pressures that schools face. I spend most of my time now supporting the Headteacher in my current role, which gives me a good understanding of the demands they face and also the Senior Leadership Team.
I hope I will be given the opportunity to play and active role as a Governor and help to improve the school for the students, parents, staff and community.
