Science teaches us about the wonder of the world and helps us to explain what happens, how things behave and to analyse reasons. By learning about the work of scientists, we can recognise our values in their work and understand that we can make a difference to our world.
Science is essentially a practical investigation of the environment and world around us. It makes use of some of the child’s most outstanding characteristics, natural curiosity and love of asking questions. Science teaching includes study of Plants, Animals, Materials, Seasonal Changes and Working Scientifically. Wherever possible science is incorporated into our themes and topics and focused around a broad question to arouse curiosity. The children learn about famous scientists and their contributions to the world.
